American Academy of Ophthalmology - Diabetic Eye Disease
Patient education and EyeCare America referrals for diabetic retinopathy and adults needing affordable eye care.
The American Academy of Ophthalmology publishes free patient education on diabetic retinopathy, macular edema, and diabetes-related vision loss — the leading cause of preventable blindness in U.S. working-age adults. Through the EyeCare America program, qualifying uninsured adults 65+ and diabetics of any age get free medical eye exams and up to 1 year of no-cost follow-up care from volunteer ophthalmologists. The Academy also runs the IRIS Registry for quality improvement.
