Who qualifies
A quick look at who this program is designed to help.
Must be a US citizen or lawfully present in the US. Must not be incarcerated. Must not be enrolled in Medicare. Household income generally between 100% and 400% of the Federal Poverty Level to qualify for premium tax credits (enhanced subsidies may extend further). Open enrollment is typically November through January, but qualifying life events allow special enrollment year-round.

Have these ready before you start the application.
- Social Security numbers for all household members, employer and income information (pay stubs, W-2s, or tax returns), immigration documents if applicable, and information about any current health coverage.
How it works
Apply online at HealthCare.gov, by phone, or in person with help from a local navigator or certified enrollment counselor. Create an account, complete the application with household and income information, compare plans, and enroll. You can apply during open enrollment or after a qualifying life event.
