Florida KidCare (CHIP)
Low-cost health insurance for children under 19 in Florida.
Covers well-child visits, prescriptions, dental, vision, hospital care. Many families pay $15–$20/month; some pay nothing.
Who qualifies
A quick look at who this program is designed to help.
Child must be under 19 years old and a Florida resident. Child must be uninsured or underinsured. Family income must be at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level (varies by program component). Child must be a US citizen or qualified non-citizen. Cannot be eligible for Medicaid (children who qualify for Medicaid are enrolled in Medicaid instead).

Have these ready before you start the application.
- Proof of identity for the child (birth certificate or passport), Social Security numbers, proof of Florida residency, proof of household income (pay stubs, tax return, or employer letter), and immigration documents if applicable.
How it works
Apply online at floridakidcare.org, by phone, or by mailing a paper application. The application covers the entire family. You will receive a determination within 45 days. If approved, you will be assigned a health plan and receive an insurance card.
