Medicaid Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT)
Free rides to medical appointments for Medicaid enrollees in every state.
NEMT is a federally mandated Medicaid benefit: every state must provide transportation to and from covered medical services when enrollees have no other way to get there. Rides may be arranged through the state's NEMT broker and can include taxi, rideshare, wheelchair van, bus pass, or mileage reimbursement. Contact your state Medicaid agency or managed care plan to schedule a ride - typically 2–3 business days in advance.
Who qualifies

Must be enrolled in Medicaid. The trip must be to a Medicaid-covered medical service. Member must have no other reasonable means of transportation (no working vehicle, no access to public transit, or unable to use it due to medical condition). Children under 21 are also entitled to NEMT under EPSDT rules.

- Medicaid ID number, appointment confirmation (provider name, address, date, time), and any documentation of mobility needs if applicable.
How it works
1. Call your state Medicaid agency or your managed care plan's member services line. 2. Ask for the NEMT broker phone number (many states use MTM, Modivcare, or Veyo). 3. Schedule your ride at least 2–3 business days before your appointment. 4. Provide appointment details, pickup address, and any mobility needs (wheelchair, escort). 5. Confirm the day before and be ready at the scheduled pickup time.
